Depending on where you call home, summer can have many meanings to you. The summer can be an extended sunny time, or it can be just the continuing of the nice weather you see year around. If this is the case, lucky you. Que jealousy, and eye roll...now. On the flip side, you could never know the true meaning of summer. For those poor souls who have no need for sunblock, I'm sorry. Get this, some people do not get to see sun....gasp.....year round!!! I am very grateful I am not in a climate that deprives me so. However I am not fist-pumping with excitement for living in the middle ground. The middle ground consisting of a couple months of sun. The couple months when I am thinking positive, and have my fingers crossed that we prayed to the sun gods loud enough this year. I thank my lucky stars that I do actually get to feel the warmth of the natural light, at least for those few months. It may be stingy, but I will take it. The minute it is official, its all down to business.
For those of us that have only a few short moments to strut our sexy, chic, summer self, its worth all the investment. Think about it people, we spend all year waiting for this short window of skin, clothing, shades, sun, and fun. Lets make it count! I not only believe that the skin forgets how to be tan, but we actually forget how to dress ourselves by the end of the long winter. Classy people that once knew all the right sweaters, and tweed, show up in platform sandals, and daisy dukes. This sudden lapse in judgment scares me. Makes me wonder. I ask myself; has the sun fried the fashion friendly part of our brains? What damage has been done to the once savvy judgment, only to replace it with Britney's summer style choices? With heat, yes more skin comes out. This is an exciting idea for all of us that are ready to shed the layers of wool, and parkas. It's all well, and good, until someones "girls" pop out of a tube top, or worse a short skirt just ends up acting as a belt to a pair of invisible pants....oops.
When sun shines, I remember clean lines. Summer is simple. Sheath dresses, and finally I can skip the hosiery. Summer is fun bright prints, and easy fabrics. Its slim crops, and off the shoulder tops. Summer is showing hints of skin, without your outfit screaming for attention. It is begging for chic, simple outfits, with charming accessories. Minimal sexy. This is what summer is about, minimal, natural beauty.
Summer is almost here, lets make it a beautiful one.
