I am on a mission to get the headscarf back. This is the peak of old Hollywood beauty. Gorgeous hair coiffed under a silken scarf, tied gently under the chin. It brings to mind visions of Jackie O, and Audrey. This look was inspired to protect the complicated, hair sprayed, backcombed hair that was so important in those days. Not only did it serve that purpose but also protected the fair skin that was popular at the times. With our concerns over the health of our skin, and the decreasing popularity of bronzed beauty, what a perfect chance for the scarf to come back. These ladies hit the fashion nail, on its gorgeous head. They created a look of class, beauty, and a hint of mystery.
If you are daring where the scarf in the retro fashion. This could be tied under your chin, or behind the head. Both of these ways are a wonderful addition to any summer outfit. If you are not ready for the full head scarf, but are ready to take a baby step into the look here are a few ideas to get you started.
1) The classic headband- roll a scarf into a thin inch, or half inch in widthh. Drape scarf across your head like a head band, and secure at the nape of your neck.
2) The rocker hippy headband- Repeat the step above rolling a scarf into a 2 inch width, then place on forehead. Tie the scarf at the back of your head, around the occipital bone.
3) The retro glam headscarf- Fold the scarf corner to corner making a triangle. Taking the flat edge drape on the top of the head. Tie the scarf either at the nape of the neck, or under the chin.
4) The pin-up- Rolling the scarf into one or 2 inch width, wrap the scarf with the middle starting at the nape of the neck. Taking the ends tie at the top of the head.
